Individual vocal lessons are one hour in length and cost $80 per session. Group lessons are $80 plus $10 for each additional person. Wolf accepts cash, check, or card. (purchase lessons). Each lesson is customized to your specific needs as a singer.
During lessons, Wolf works on technique, including vocal and breathing exercises that will help extend range, increase endurance, ensure proper breathing, and preserve the voice. He will teach the basic anatomy of the vocal instrument, instruct on the production of making different types of timbres and dynamics with the voice, and show students the basics of vocal production. Wolf not only works with you to apply vocal techniques and concepts to improve your voice, but also helps you to develop your performance of original or cover song material. Lessons are digitally recorded and shared with you so that you can practice regularly outside of lessons.
Wolf teaches out of a private music studio in NE Portland in the Sabin neighborhood. The studio is easy to get to by public transit. The TriMet buses that go near the studio are the #8, #72. Contact Wolf for directions.
What to Bring
For the initial session, you should bring a song to sing accompanied by sheet music or an mp3 to sing along with. You will perform the song for Wolf so he can evaluate what vocal challenges and strengths you have and what specific exercises would be best suited for you. There is a piano and acoustic guitar available for use in the studio. You can accompany yourself or Wolf can accompany on piano or guitar.
Wolf has done extensive writing and recording for both his personal projects and his students' projects. He can contribute his expertise to your recording process. Wolf will collaborate with students in all aspects of writing and recording music for the rate of $100 an hour. Types of session work include:
Wolf can join you in the studio to assist in producing vocal tracks and provide immediate feedback about song material. Past consultations include: Modest Mouse, Yacht, Jen Wood and others.
Not just an accomplished singer, he also plays guitar, bass guitar, keyboards, and auxiliary percussion. Wolf has played and sung on several of his students recordings, including Yacht, Ages and Ages, Jen Wood and others
